Hi, I'm Rich, 21
I love physics, astronomy, and animation.

I am a Korrasexual and proud of it

Lin Beifong, you're my hero.

So I’ve heard talk of how this scene was sexist because Korra had to be ‘saved’ although she saved him like two seconds later.

What I wanna say about this is that Mako was so weak here, he’d just been bloodbent, he escaped because of sheer will and strength, and now he’s desperately trying to get her out of there.

And he even tries to calm her down, because throughout the whole series he is the only one who can do that. He tries to tell her that everything is okay, even if he’s not sure if anything actually is.

Korra has the burden of the whole world on her, I don’t think it’s “sexist” or insulting to her character to pair her with someone who will try to shoulder some of that responsibility for her, and who always makes her slow down, think, and calm down when she’s upset.

That’s why she got so scared when he was being bloodbent to the point that she forced herself out of her airbending block. He provides stability and comfort for her, and that’s important to someone in her position. It’s not something that would change if their genders were different.
